FADA's August 2026 release (published 07/09/2026) reports passenger-vehicle retail of 402,398 units, up 16.14% year on year, the best-ever August and the first time Indian passenger-vehicle retail has cleared 4 lakh in an August; total vehicle retail across all categories was 2,423,201 units, up 17.51%. August's passenger-vehicle fuel mix was petrol and ethanol 40.85%, diesel 17.20%, CNG and LPG 25.28%, hybrid 9.04%, and electric 7.63%, the first month in which CNG, hybrid and electric combined (41.95%) exceeded petrol's share. by_engine_type now reflects August's monthly mix, not a cumulative YTD mix. total_registrations is the sum of the published monthly series, 3,388,139. fada.in is behind a Cloudflare block that refuses automated requests from this machine, so the primary press release PDF could not be fetched directly this run; the figures above were verified from two independent outlets that quote the release, The Tribune (07/09/2026) and AutoGuideIndia, with the fuel mix cross-checked against AutoPunditz, and the five fuel shares reconcile to 100.00%. by_segment, by_region and the other by_* arrays remain the last reconciled breakdown. Verified on 2026-09-10.
